Do you have a theme song for 2008?

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a HUGE MJB fan. This woman is phenomenal. Her latest CD is no exception. I love so many of the songs on Growing Pains like "Grown Woman" (of course), "Shake Down f/ Usher" and my theme song for 2008 "Work That". This is just an inspirational song.

A few of my favorite lyrics are below:

They gonna hate anyway
Don't you get that?
Doesn't matter if you're going on with their plan

They'll never be happy Cause they're not happy with themselves

Feelin great because the light's on me

Celebrating the things that everyone told me

Would never happen but God has put his hands on me

And aint a man alive could ever take it from me

Working with what I got I gotta keep on
Taking care of myself I wanna live long
Aint never ashamed what life did to me

This song just reminds me that no matter what people say (or do) I am going to hold my head up high and be the best person I can because I know God has a plan for my life. So, all you divas out there (or divas in training), for 2008 create a theme song for yourself and live your life by that motto. For me, I'm going to strut my stuff, let the haters hate and "work that" in 2008.

How about you?

Hey Ladies..love the website!! I LURVE Mary J and at first I deemed Just Fine as my theme song for 2008. Then I picked up the CD and decided that it was Work That; then I actually listen to the CD and now I am confused.. So I will just say that the bulk of the CD is my blueprint for the year. Right now I am featuring Work In Progress as the song on my website.

I have to get the cd. I'm just like Netta--I love the lyric--I like what I see when I'm walking passed the mirror. But--Work That is good too. I think it's a good motto song for starting a new year.

yes, yes, yes ya'll! mary j. is healing & fly as hell doing it. AND i have to say that alecia, alecia, alecia has the key. i 1st heard about the cd cuz my mommy sent me an email with the song, "superwoman" attached. the message she wrote me said, "it sounds like someone met you and wrote a song about it". yes, my mother is the best support in the world to me. "superwoman", "lesson learned", "sure looks good to me"...i could keep going. but the songs i named could be an album all their own. this girl and her songwriters are healing my soul with their words. i sing, scream, cry, laugh, all while driving & blasting her cd. ppl be looking at me at redlighs like, "oh gee sus. is she aight?!" do i give a fugg? no indeed. imma be levitating in 2008 cuz this cd is one of my tools for healing. if you ain't know, now you know.
