Bill Clinton is Not Black

NEWS FLASH. BILL CLINTON IS NOT NOW NOR HAS HE EVER BEEN BLACK. I'm so sick of people saying that he was the first African American President. Why? Because he was a playa? Because he was smooth? Because he cheated on his wife? Or was it because he played the sax on Arsenio Hall and loved himself some Aretha Franklin? I do not deny that Clinton had a number of Blacks on staff and was definitely a more inclusive president. But does that give him a black card? Please.
The latest offender is former civil rights activist and politician Andrew Young who stated, “Hillary Clinton, first of all, has Bill behind her. And Bill is every bit as black as Barack.” WHAT? Are you kidding me? So Bill faces the same struggles and racism as an obvious African American? Is Obama not black enough because he's educated? Give me a break. Mr. Young you do a disservice to yourself and to African Americans as a people by implying that Clinton is a) black; b) as black as Obama and by suggesting that there is some litmus test for being black.

i, like you, are sick and tired of the idea that B.C.was the first black prez... he and Hil need to move on....
it's not about them anymore and they can't get over it....it's a new day and many want a new direction, i for one. they are the ones playing the race card...divide us and conquer us...she has nothing to offer to lead us into the future... all she will do is maintain where we are...not make a fundamental shift... it will be politics as usual, we need new energy sources, new infrastructure, new tax system, new standing in the world..
we need to think our way out of the mess this country is in domestically and globally....part of it is generational...the old black guard are as stuck as the clintons...someone please stop me!!...if we can think beyond our fears, mistrust and become unified behind Obama we can move in a better direction...we as a nation must move beyond the racial divide and bring a message to the world, and ourselves...god help us to make a better choice

Thanks for putting it out there...i needed to vent...ck out my blog i'd appreciate your comments...fay

You're telling the 100% truth. IF I'm not mistaken, wasn't it Toni Morrison who started this Bill Clinton is "the first Black president" foolishness? She knew better than that. And so does Andrew Young. Trust me, the Clintons are eating up that "first Black president" label, because with that, they think they'll always have our support/votes. They need to stop.

It WAS Toni Morrison! They read her quote during the debate on Tuesday--she said he was blacker than any black man elected president could ever be. Disappointing.
